We are currently seeking a highly-motivated Basic Grade Occupational Therapist to join our team in St. Laurence’s Residential service/ Enable Ireland Adult Cork Services 

Contract Type:    Permanent contract

Contract Hours:  35 hours per week

Salary Scale:       The current salary scale for this post is €39,993 to €53,279 pro rata per annum

“This pay scale is subject to increases 2024 in accordance with the recent WRC interim agreement (Ref CAM-100101-22) towards enhanced pay adjustments in Section 39 organisations”.
 

Overview of the Post:
The post holder will be responsible for the initiation and provision of a quality Occupational Service to adults with disabilities accessing our services. This service will include assessment and intervention to meet identified needs, working with Service Owners to integrate goals as relevant in their person centred plan. The post holder will work in partnership with the Service Owner informed by the four principals of new directions: person –centeredness, community involvement, active citizenship and high-quality service provision. It will also include supporting and upskilling staff in the day centres to maximise each Service Owner’s potential, their engagement and active social roles.

•    The person appointed to this post will work as part of multi-disciplinary teams delivering a coordinated approach to adults with Physical disabilities, under the direction of the Adult Services Manager and in close cooperation with frontline colleagues. 
•    People are supported in various settings including residential units, community houses, family homes, day services, respite services and supported community living. The successful candidate will provide services in a variety of these settings.
•    The Senior Occupational Therapist will be responsible for the provision of a high quality Occupational Therapy service and will carry out clinical and educational duties as required.
•    The professional reporting relationship will be to the Adult Services Manager through the professional line management structure. The therapist will ultimately be responsible to the Director of Services.

The successful candidate will have:

Essential Criteria:
Candidates for appointment must: 
•    Be registered, or be eligible for registration, on the Occupational Therapists Register maintained by the Occupational Therapists Registration Board at CORU.
AND 
•    Have the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability and professional ability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office. 
AND 
•    Provide proof of Statutory Registration on the Occupational Therapists Register maintained by the Occupational Therapists Registration Board at CORU before a contract of employment can be issued. 

Annual registration :
•    On appointment practitioners must maintain annual registration on the Occupational Therapists Register maintained by the Occupational Therapists Registration Board at CORU.
AND
•    Practitioners must confirm annual registration with CORU to Enable Ireland.

AND
•    Be the holder of a valid full clean driver’s licence and have access to own transport.
•    Experience of working as part of an interdisciplinary team.
•    A minimum of twelve months clinical experience of working with adults with physical / sensory and developmental disabilities and their families.
•    Experience of assessing restrictive practices in line with a Human rights approach to support Service Owners with postural care.

Desirable Criteria: 
•    Experience of assessment and intervention in neuro-disability including postural, seating and upper limb management, environmental access, specialised equipment provision, assistive technology and functional skill development to aid occupational performance and engagement.
•    Experience and interest in relevant research initiatives.
•    Experience of working in a HIQA registered residential service.
•    Have or have willingness to gain experience in developing sensory integration and stimulation programmes for adults
•    Experience of assessment and referral pathways for Postural supports.
