Enable Ireland announces the retirement of Mr Donal Cashman as Chairman of the Board of Enable Ireland confirmed at the Enable Ireland Board meeting on 20th May 2021. Donal was elected as Chairman of Enable Ireland in 1993. Throughout his term as Chairman, Donal has demonstrated deep commitment to the disability sector in Ireland and has been a constant and consistent advocate for enhanced services for people with disabilities.
Enable Ireland is delighted to also confirm the election of Mr Stephen Haughey as new Chairman of Enable Ireland. He was first appointed to the Board of Enable Ireland in 2009 as a Stakeholder Director, representing parents and reflecting his vested interest in the organisation. Stephen is an experienced legal and finance specialist and former Chairman and Head of the Finance Department at A&L Goodbody.
Enable Ireland CEO John O’Sullivan said, “We are extremely grateful to Donal for his many years of service as Chairman of the Board of Enable Ireland. Under his leadership of the Board our organisation has grown significantly and we now provide services in 15 counties and to over 9,200 children and adults with disabilities. A hallmark of Donal’s chairmanship has been his commitment to the children, adults and families relying on our services and this was never more in evidence than in the last year when we faced the unprecedented challenge of a global pandemic. On behalf of everyone in Enable Ireland, I thank Donal for his enormous contribution to our organisation and I wish Donal and his wife, Peggy, well in the next chapter of their life.”
“I am delighted to work with Stephen as Chairman of the Board. Stephen brings a breadth of knowledge and experience to the Board. His knowledge of the Board and Enable Ireland will provide important continuity as we continue to grow and develop our services in the future under his leadership.”
