Basic Grade Speech & Language Therapist Ref EIJB0238

Contract Type: Permanent full time

We have an exciting opportunity for a Speech & Language Therapist (permanent post) with Enable Ireland Meath service.

The Role:  The purpose of the role is to provide speech & language therapy service including assessment, diagnostics and intervention as required to all children accessing the Early Intervention service. The successful candidates will work as a member of the inter/trans-disciplinary team providing services to children and families within the designated area.

Overview of Duties & Responsibilities
• Demonstrates sufficient clinical skills in assessment intervention and diagnostics to meet the specific needs of children with a range of disabilities / developmental delay in early services.
• Assess children as required and produce relevant reports in line with Assessment of Need process.
• Ensures that the needs of the service users are being adequately met by the speech & language therapy service provided.
• Collaborate with the service user while working in partnership with the service user parent/family/carer and all other relevant stakeholders to identify and achieve goals.

The successful candidates will have:

Essential Criteria:

• A recognised validated University Degree or Diploma or an equivalent qualification in Speech & Language Therapy.
• Be eligible to work in the state.
• Recent relevant experience working in the area of disability.
• Registered with CORU

Desirable Criteria:

• Interdisciplinary team working.
• Minimum of one year recent experience working with children with disabilities and their families.
• Recent, relevant post graduate, or under-graduate placement experience, in a paediatric setting.
• Any relevant post graduate training specific to child disability services.
• Experience in conducting Assessment of need.
• Recent relevant experience working with children with feeding/ eating/swallowing difficulties.
