We have an exciting opportunity for a Basic Grade Social Worker, based at our Enable Ireland, Orchard Way, Oakview Village, Tralee, Co. Kerry.
The Role: 
The post holder will be responsible for the provision of a social work service including assessment and intervention to children and families at Kerry Intervention & Disability Services Tralee.

Overview of Duties & Responsibilities:

 Key Duties and Responsibilies

• Working as part of the inter-disciplinary team contribute to the assessment process and individual service planning for service users attending the service.
• Working as part of the inter-disciplinary team contribute to the development and implementation of team goals and objectives.
• Working in partnership with parents and service users facilitate their active involvement in the development and implementation of individual service plans.
• To work in the role of advocate for the service user and family. 
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with statutory and voluntary agencies.
• To attend and participate in team and department meetings, family meetings, strategy meeting and case conferences as required.
• Ensure effective maintenance of client records in line with Legislation such as Freedom of Information and Data Protection Act as well as Enable Ireland Local and National policies, Progressing Disability Services local and National Policies and Social Work Principles.
• Ensure updating and maintenance of information recording systems for service users such as Goldmine.
• Contribute to the development and delivery of training and support programmes within Enable Ireland and other agencies
• Contribute to the development of Local and National Policy and service strategy as required.
• Perform any other duties appropriate to the position from time to time and be flexible in meeting the needs of the service for e.g. providing parent training in the evenings.
• Ensure that Health & Safety policy and procedures are adhered to at all times. Take personal responsibility for own health and safety and report incidents and potential hazards as necessary.
• Respect the confidentiality of all matters learned in relation to the post, service users, other members of staff and the general public.

The successful candidate will have:
Essential Criteria:

• A recognised validated in the State University Degree or Diploma or an equivalent qualification in Social Work.
• Registered with CORU National Social Work Registration Board
• Minimum of 1 year post qualification experience
• Be eligible to work in the state.
If required, hold a valid work permit or work authorisation visa.
Knowledge, Skills & Disabilities:
• Demonstrate a clear understanding of the role of social worker in a disability Setting
• Demonstrate a clear understanding of the Social Model of Disability
• Demonstrate a well-developed understanding of the principles and practice of child and adult protection.
• Demonstrate a positive child centred approach to service delivery.
• Excellent Teamwork Skills in Working Collaboratively with Team Members and Other Disciplines
• Skilled in team facilitation
• Broad knowledge and experience of child protection policy and legislation.
• Have access to transport and be able to work effectively in a range of community settings include undertaking home visits.
• Experience of working with children with a disability in order to maximise independence, choice and inclusion in their own communities
• Experience of working in partnership with families through a person centred approach
• Demonstrate experience of effective communication with service users, families and professional agencies.
• Experience of working independently and adopting a problem solving approach and use of one’s own initiative,
• Experience of working with children with a disability.
• Experience of group work.
• Broad knowledge and experience of child protection policy and legislation.
• Experience of working in partnership with families through a person centred approach.

Desirable Criteria:

• Experience of working effectively as part of an interdisciplinary team.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
• Demonstrate an understanding of working with families and services users around loss and bereavement.
• Demonstrate a knowledge of the local disability support services.
• Demonstrate a knowledge of the impact of disability on families/siblings
• Demonstrate an understanding of sib-shop training.
• Experience of providing training and facilitating groups.
• Experience of group work facilitation and development
• Experience in delivering child protection training
• Experience of working effectively as part of an interdisciplinary team.
