Your Legacy : Leaving a Gift to Help Future Generations
Why Leave a Legacy?
Leaving a legacy to Enable Ireland will make a lasting difference to the world you leave behind. We are committed to improving the lives of those with physical disabilities and their families. How well we can meet the enormous demand for our services and assistance depends on the funding we receive. Please consider leaving a lasting gift to those with disabilities in Ireland by including a gift of any size in your Will.
A legacy left to a charity is exempt from tax. By leaving a legacy to Enable Ireland you are reducing the overall tax bill on your estate and getting more value from your gift.
Types of Legacy
There are three different types of gifts that are most commonly given to charities through Wills. We recommend you discuss each with your solicitor to find out which suits you best:
Residuary Legacy – this is a gift of the residue of your estate, after your family have been looked after and any outstanding debts or taxes have been paid.
Pecuniary Legacy – this is a gift of a specific or fixed amount of money
Specific Legacy – this is the bequest of a particular item of property, such as property, jewellery, or shares.
What if I already have a Will?
If you already have a Will, it is easy to make a change to it and include Enable Ireland. This is called a codicil and can be drawn up easily by your solicitor.
I do not have an existing Will
Simply contact a solicitor and let them know you would like to make out a Will which includes a legacy to Enable Ireland. They will advise you on how to do this in order to best suit your needs and wishes.
For the purposes of making a Will, you will require our registered charity number, which is CHY 4908.
