Grainne Seoige Celebrates 20 Years of TK Maxx Give Up Clothes For Good Campaign

TV presenter Grainne Seoige joined TK Maxx and Enable Ireland to mark the 20th anniversary of the TK Maxx ‘Give Up Clothes For Good’ campaign in aid of Enable Ireland. Since launching in 1997, the campaign has raised €2.2m for Enable Ireland with close to 120,000 bags of unwanted clothing, accessories and homeware items donated over this time.

Grainne was joined by Enable Ireland service user Rachael Doak (aged 8), to celebrate the milestone date for the initiative, which helps to provide support services to over 5,000 children and young adults with disabilities across Ireland.

All donated items are sold through the Enable Ireland network of retail outlets around the country with all proceeds funding 14 local projects in the community. Enable Ireland provides free services to children with disabilities and their families from 40 locations in 14 counties, covering all aspects of a child's physical, educational, and social development from early infancy through adolescence.

Grainne Seoige commented: “We all have clothes at home that we hold onto with the promise of wearing them again but, in reality, will we ever really take them out for another day? This year, I’ve been clearing out my wardrobe to support TK Maxx Give Up Clothes For Good campaign. It’s easy to take part – clear out and donate your unwanted clothes, homewares and accessories to the special collection units in all stores. Once you’ve done it, nominate a friend to get involved too!”

Louise Greenlees, President, TJX Europe said: “We are extremely proud to have supported Enable Ireland for the last 20 years and to celebrate the tremendous milestone the campaign has reached. With €2.2m raised so far, we look forward to continuing to support this great initiative throughout 2017.”

To support ‘Give Up Clothes For Good’ and help Enable Ireland to continue their vital work around Ireland, simply donate unwanted clothes, accessories and quality homewares in any TK Maxx store and nominate a friend, colleague or family member to do the same.
