There are a range of solutions available to help people with independent eating and drinking from simple adapted cutlery and delph to high tech switch operated devices. The following are some examples of the range available.

Bendable Utensils and Cutlery

Spoon and fork feature a metal shaft, easily bent to any angle to accommodate reduced range of motion and greatest comfort to the user. The rocker knife cuts with run motion. Utensils have built up rubber handles for comfort and are dishwasher safe.

Lightweight Cutlery

Stainless steel utensils mounted on plastic stems and sealed into light grey foam handles, to give help to those with weak/painful grip. Foam is comfortable to hold and washable.

Large Grip Cutlery

Utensils with soft flexible grip due to ribbing the complete length of the handle for comfortable, nonslip grip. The round handle is a natural fit for those with arthritis, weak grip or neurological impairments.

Winsford Feeder

This product enables people without use of their arms to feed themselves from a plate/bowl at their own speed. Slight head motion on a chin switch activates motorised that fills the spoon, which automatically moves to the mouth. Controlled rotation of bowl allows selection of food. Also feeder is height adjustable, operates on battery/electricity. Includes carry case, spoon, dinner plate, bowl, chin switch, drip pan, battery charger, remote hand/foot control.

Neater Eater

Tailor-made product to suit individual requirements, offering different features. Food is scooped up as the bowl of the spoon comes forward against the turned lip of the plate. The plate can be turned to reach to food and the spoon then lifts up to the mouth. Increases independence and encourages social interaction.

Neater Drinker

Heavy wide based “cup” with lid. Used in conjunction with an angled straw. The straw has a valve attachment, which facilitates a person with poor or weak sucking ability.

A flexible guard can be fitted to ordinary plates to assist with one-handed eating. Three clips attach to the rim and create an inward sloping face to help with food collection and prevent spillage.
