Limerick Lady Crowned
Thirteen contestants from around the country made their way to Limerick at the end of June to battle it out for the ‘Limerick Lady’ crown. Contestants converged on the South Court Hotel to display skills in singing, poetry reading, poetry composition, piano playing and art presentation. The brainchild of a service user in Enable Ireland Limerick Adult Services, this was the first year of the event.

Deirdre Burns, the Limerick City ‘Lady’ came away with the crown when she blew the judges away with her rendition of ‘Words’ by Boyzone/BeeGees. Mike Cronin, from Enable Ireland Limerick was MC and the host was Nigel Mercier. Judges were Celia Holman Lee, model and celebrity; Evelyn O’Brien, Enable Ireland North Tipperary; and Olivia O’Sullivan, Limerick Post. The event was carefully organised by Claire Keyes, Enable Ireland Limerick. All of the judges and hosts graciously donated their time on the night.
Mathew Stephens Jewellers donated the prizes for 1st place (Pandora Bracelet)’ 2nd place (Links of London bracelet) and 3rd place (Swarovski necklace).
A great night was had by all who danced the night away to music from local band, The Niteowls.
