Enable Ireland Assistive Technology Training Calendar for 2010

The Enable Ireland National Assistive Technology (AT) Training Service have published their training calendar for 2010. A wide variety of courses, workshops, seminars and open days are available to people with disabilities, parents, carers, employers and other interested public. Courses on offer include training on eye gaze technology, the latest communication technology and an introduction to AT among others. Dates for the nine day certified AT Training course have also been released. Customised AT workshops can also be organised to meet the needs of specific training groups.

Training on offer in 2010 includes:

• Liberator Eco Point Eye Gaze Demonstration in Dublin on 28 January
• Grid 2 Training in Bray, Co. Wicklow on 12 February. The Grid 2 is an all-in-one package for communication and access
• Clicker 5 ‘Next Steps’ Workshop in Dublin on 26 February. Clicker is a reading and writing tool that helps pupils of all abilities to achieve success in reading and writing.
• Introduction to AT Workshop in North Tipperary in February (date TDC)
• Certified AT Training Course on 10-12 March, 21-23 April and 19-21 May in Microsoft Ireland offices in Dublin. This course is certified by Dublin Institute of Technology.
• Enable Ireland AT Open Day in Dublin on 14 April
• Clicker 5 Introductory Workshop on 28 April in Dublin.
• GRID 2 Workshop on 26 May in Dublin
• Enable Ireland National AT Seminar on 24 November in Dublin.

About Enable Ireland National AT Training Service
The AT Training Service run both certified and customized AT courses, ranging in duration from a half day to nine days. They also run seminars targeting people with disabilities, therapists, educators and employers. The goal of this service is to deliver more training to parents and families of people with disabilities as awareness of the benefits of Assistive Technology grows among this population. Assistive Technology aims to offer the widest range of supports so that the user can make best use of all the features and advantages that technology has to offer. Assistive Technology is any item, whether purchased off the shelf, or customised, which enhances an individual’s independence.
