Enable Ireland Kilkenny Children’s Services Overview
Enable Ireland Kilkenny are contracted by the HSE to provide services to children who require team based interventions from two or more disciplines and who reside in the Kilkenny Community Care Area. The following section provides some more details on the services available and admission criteria.
Day Services
- 0 – 6 years of age
- Children with an identified primary physical disability
- Children with an identified developmental delay, intellectual and/a sensory disability
Therapy Services
- Children from birth to 6 years of age with an identified primary physical disability
- Children from 0 -18 years of age with an identified primary physical disability or until it is deemed to be in the best interest of the child to discharge prior to the above
Family Support Services
- 0-18 years of age
- The family support team responds to the identified need for home based respite for families caring for a child with special needs
Children with a physical disability require early multidisciplinary intervention and are therefore prioritised for admission to therapy services and, where appropriate, to day services. The child may commence therapy services prior to admission to day services.
Some children with a primary physical disability may not require day services and may attend therapy services only.
Children with other disabilities, e.g. sensory, intellectual and developmental delay, who are receiving services in the community will transfer to therapy services at Enable Ireland following commencement in day services.
