Slowing down the mouse in KDE

Step-by-step instructions to slow your mouse in KDE

Instructions

1.    Click on the ' K' icon on the menu tab, or press the ' Windows ' logo key (located between the ' Ctrl ' + ' Alt ' keys on most keyboards) alternatively press ' Alt ' + ' F1 '.
2.    Click on ' Control Center ' or press ' C ' and then ' Enter '.
3.    Click on ' Peripherals' or use the ' Tab' key to highlight the left-hand panel and then use the ' down ' arrow key to select ' Peripherals ' and then press the ' right ' arrow key to expand the options list (see Fig 1).
4.    Click on ' Mouse ' or press the ' down ' arrow to highlight ' Mouse ' and then press ' Enter'.

5.    Click on the 'Advanced' tab or press ' Tab ' once and then press the ' right ' arrow key to select it.

6.    Click on the up and down arrows at the end of the ' Pointer Acceleration' box to change the speed - ' 2.x ' is the standard value or press ' Tab' to highlight the value in the ' Pointer Acceleration' box and then press the ' down ' arrow to reduce the speed of the mouse (or press the ' up ' arrow to increase the speed of the mouse) - see Fig 2 above.
7.    You can also reduce the sensitivity of the mouse by increasing the 'Pointer threshold ' value, you can do this clicking on the gauge bar under ' Pointer threshold ' or clicking on the ' up ' arrow in the box at the end of the ' Pointer threshold ' gauge bar. To use the keyboard press ' Tab' until the ' Pointer threshold ' gauge bar is highlighted and use the ' ' right ' arrow to increase the value or press 'Tab' until the value in the box at the end of the ' Pointer Acceleration' bar is highlighted and use the 'up' arrow.
8.    Click on ' Apply ' or press ' Alt ' + ' A', to confirm your changes.
9.    A message box will come up to tell you that you must restart KDE for the changes to take effect - click ' OK ' or press ' Alt ' + ' O ' to close the box.
10.    Click the close button on the ' Mouse - Control Center ' window or press 'Ctrl ' + ' Q ' to return to the desktop.
