Magnifying the screen in Mac OS 8 and 9

This page gives you step-by-step instructions on how to launch and use the CloseView Magnifier

The Mac OS includes an optional screen magnification program called ' CloseView '. If it is not installed on your computer it can be found on the Mac OS CD-Rom: under CD Extras: Universal Access: CloseView
If you do not have access to the Mac OS CD-Rom it is available on the web at:
Apple Macintosh Software Toolkit http://park.org/Guests/Trace/pavilion/macshar1.htm

The ' CloseView ' magnifier enables text to be increased to a very large size. It is, however, restricted to a small portion of the screen, the area that is magnified is outlined with a black box that follows the mouse pointer.

This page shows you how to start ' CloseView ' and details some of its features.

Instructions

Open ' CloseView ' using the following steps:
Click the ' Apple ' menu (no keyboard shortcut).
From the ' Control Panels ' sub menu select ' CloseView ' (no keyboard shortcut) which will launch ' CloseView ' as shown in Fig 1.
