Early Years
When we first attended our weekly physiotherapy sessions, Mark was not a very interested or active participant but Michelle, our physiotherapist made the sessions fun and gave me ideas to use physiotherapy in everyday life at home. We also had occupational therapy sessions again prompting Mark to become more involved and independent through play.
Children with disabilities have a range of developmental needs during different childhood stages.
In the early years the emphasis is on developing learning skills, achieving physical milestones and forming relationships.
Our service teams work in close partnership with parents to build an individual programme for their child. Keeping them informed all the way about the purposes and goals of the therapy. We acknowledge that planning must start early, be real and positive with shared expectations for the future.
The team is there to provide assessment and treatment for the child as well as information and support for the entire family.
