Assessment

It's so overwhelming in the beginning. When you meet the Enable Ireland team you get 100% which is a huge support, especially in the early days.

An assessment evaluates how a child is developing and identifies which services they and their family need.

Enable Ireland carries out its assessments by evaluating the child’s and family’s needs in a person centred and family-centred approach, and giving consideration to their diverse needs.

An initial assessment will occur when a child is first referred to Enable Ireland. It plays an important role in the overall services that Enable Ireland provide as it:

Identifies the child’s present difficulties and needs Evaluates whether the child will benefit from Enable Ireland services.

The assessment process will be explained to the child and family from the outset and they will be encouraged to get involved, give their views and make choices at each stage of the assessment process.

The range of services that Enable Ireland provides depends on the specific contracts in place between Enable Ireland and the HSE and will vary from region to region and we encourage you to find out about specific Enable Ireland services offered in your region.
