Enable Ireland Kerry Adult Services

The aim here is to create opportunities and give people more choice and control, not just in relation to training and employment issues but also in their everyday lives. In consultation with service users this service aims to facilitate people with a primary physical disability to participate in their own community in the areas of vocational, educational, social and cultural activities.

How to Access Services

Access to our services is via the HSE Disability and Guidance Advisor, HSE South, Rathass, Tralee (066) 7199776, who then makes a referral, if necessary. Alternatively contact the centre directly and we can advise.

Person Centered Planning (PCP)

The Person Centered Planning process is at the core of the service offered by Kerry Adult Services. The PCP process develops a holistic personal profile with the service user setting goals and objectives based on personal aspirations. This process assists participants to identify their strengths, needs, abilities and preferences resulting in the formulation of individual person centered plans based upon realistic goals.

The Person Centered Planning process also allows service users to focus on their training needs and Enable Ireland makes every effort to facilitate people to pursue their identified goals.

Individual Training Plans (ITP)

A highly trained staff facilitates the training activities of service users. The trainers/tutors and the service user work together to create an individual training plan. This is a record of training goals and objectives and other information relating to the development of a service user during the time spent at the Training Centre. It allows the progress of each service user to be constantly monitored.

An Individual Training Plan gives a service user more control, independence and input into their daily training activities both inside and outside the centre. Each service user discusses their goals with their key worker and a schedule is then devised. At the same time, staff has specific objectives for the week and weekly meetings are conducted so that changing needs of the service user can be constantly met.

Key Working

Kerry Adult Services works on a key working system, which provides service users with a single point of contact and enables them to have easy access to information, support and advice to meet their needs. A key worker is both a source of support for service users and a link by which other information and services are accessed and used effectively. Key workers have the responsibility to work together with the service user, and other members of the team to ensure delivery of a person centered service.
