Enable Ireland Cork Adult Services
Enable Ireland Cork Services have developed over the years to include an Adult Service. The service now offers centre and community based opportunities for adult training, personal development, job coaching, therapies and transport services.
In 2007 the Adult Service centre moved into a purpose built facility in East Gate, Little Island Cork. All activities that are supported at the centre and within the community are person-centred and aimed at promoting opportunities to facilitate more choice and independence, not just in relation to training and employment issues but also within our service user’s everyday lives.
The Adult Service centre currently also offers a number of Quality of Life development and day programmes. These include - Home Management, Literacy and Numeracy, Computer Skills, Personal & Social Development, Arts & Music and ongoing support in accessing full and part-time employment or mainstream educational opportunities.
The service also offers a range of individualised nursing and therapy for current service users These include nursing, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, social work, psychology, speech and language therapy and complimentary therapy.
All adults who attend our services can now also access an Independent Advocacy service. Run by the Citizens Information Service, this service was set up by Enable Ireland through funding provided by the Citizens Information Board in partnership with Cheshire Cork and the Disability Federation of Ireland.
